Building An Elkview from 84 Lumber

Day 5

This small 576 square foot cottage is the answer for many in the aftermath of Katrina. With two bedrooms, bathroom, living rooom, and kitchen - this cottage fulfills dreams of many who lost their homes and were left with little to no funds to build a home. For $9,800 approximately we can black in the home on pilings. For about $8,000 more we can complete the inside inclusive with air conditioning, cabinets, washer/dryer, fridge, freezer, and flooring.

The stairs are built, the roof truss system installed, some sheathing installed, facia board, worked on the deck, and more of those hurricane straps.

Mervin, the Crew leader for the Costner Elkview home with his son at the C.A.R.E. Sharing Night on Thursday. This is a regular event and members of the public attend the dinner with the volunteers.

Headed for a solution - Its amazing how easy this is with the stairs in place!
